“Telling development stories through the lens.”

About Me

I’m Robert Wanjohi, a communications professional who believes in the power of real stories to drive real change. For over 10 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of development, humanitarian action, and media, using storytelling as a tool to inform, inspire, and influence. What keeps me going is simple: I care deeply about people, and I believe their voices deserve to be heard, clearly and truthfully. My work has taken me across communities and causes, from health and education to economic justice. I don’t just tell stories; I listen first. Then I shape narratives that speak to real experiences, connect with audiences, and move people to act.

Most recently, I led communications for the USAID Tumikia Mtoto project, supporting six Local Implementing Partners. My role was to ensure that every story, message, and report reflected the heart of the work while aligning with USAID standards. It was more than just coordination; it was about elevating the dignity, strength, and resilience of children and families at the center of it all.

What I Bring to the Table • Clear, strategic communication planning rooted in empathy and impact • Content creation that blends strong visuals (video, photo) with purposeful storytelling • Knowledge management that captures lessons and keeps teams aligned • Donor and stakeholder communications that are honest, timely, and compelling • Media engagement and campaigns that raise awareness and build trust • Crisis communications with a calm, solutions-first approach • Team mentorship and capacity building that grows people, not just skills For me, communication isn’t just a job. It’s a way to build bridges, shift perspectives, and shape a more just and humane world. Whether I’m writing a donor report, directing a short film, or crafting a digital campaign, my goal is the same: to make the message matter. This portfolio reflects a journey of purpose, partnership, and storytelling that puts people first. I'm glad you're here.
